何为灸疗法？灸疗法是中医学针灸疗法的一个组成部分。引用灸草在体表一定的穴位上烧灼，疗效有温通经络，调和气血，调理体质，增加抵抗力，从而达到防治疾病和强身保健的目的。

What’s Moxibustion? Well, Moxibustion is actually part of the acupuncture therapy in ancient context. It uses a medicinal herb known as Mugwort that will be burned while placed on the acupoint(acupuncture points) of the human body. The Moxibustion therapy warm meridians and open collateral, regulates Qi and Blood, regulates human body constitution, increase immune system to attain a strong body and prevent diseases/ illness.

患者总会问：那灸疗法与普通热疗法有差别吗？甚至一些患者说熏的灸疗法有相等于吸烟的烟吗。那个不行呀。

灸疗行之有效的特点一直在民间广为流传。艾条的成分以艾叶的主要有效的各种挥发油和微量元素，故香气浓郁。而这些香气在古代是用来祛病除邪。艾叶燃烧时热力温和，能穿透皮肤，直达深部经久不消，起到温通经脉驱散风寒的作用。若用普通火热，则直觉表皮灼热而不会有通窜的感觉，也不会有温煦散寒的作用，所以众多的中药材独有艾叶具有上述功能。这燃烧后的气味也可以发挥了镇静镇痛的作用。古代药物著作《名医别录》中记载：‘艾叶苦，微温，无毒，主灸百病’。

For those who has taken the therapy before, often question whether will the Moxibustion therapy differs from the regular heat therapy? or could the fuming Moxibustion therapy be replaced by the smoke from the cigarettes. Definitely that’s not possible.

The effective characteristics of the Moxibustion therapy has been circulated among the people long time ago. A Moxa stick contains Mugowrt leaf with various volatile oil, trace elements and aromatic smell that was used by ancient folks to guard against all Evil (preventing diseases). The burning of the Mugwort Leaf (Ai Ye) is warm and moderate, it is able to penetrate through the skin, to reach a deeper part of the skin, remain long in the body to warm and opens up the meridian and collaterals as well as Dispelling Wind and Cold. On the contrary, the regular heat therapy provides heat only on the surface of the skin where reddish can be seen but there may not be a penetration feelings through the skin which makes the efficacy poor or often none. Besides that, studies also show that the smell releasing from the moxa stick has calming and pain relieving effect and it was recorded in ancient text of being ‘bitter in nature, slightly warm property, non-toxic with the ability to treat ‘hundreds’(many) diseases’

艾灸适应证：

1. 小儿妇女皆可用。如：小儿消化不良；如：闭经、痛经、子宫肌瘤、不孕症等等

2. 伤风感冒，各种痛症。如：寒型哮喘、疝气、气血弱引起的贫血、眩晕。

3. 脾胃病、肝肾虚的老年人怪病皆可用。灸疗法有效的补中培元，回阳固脱。如治疗：胃痛、腹痛、久泻、遗尿、腰酸背痛等等

4. 灸疗法也用于化淤散结，消肿镇痛。治疗急性乳腺炎初期、颈淋巴结核、癌症等等

5. 体质虚弱易生病的患者有救了！‘艾有参之功，参无艾之德’，表示艾灸有人参一样补人体的功效，火力温和和不伤人。适用于抗病能力差，各种慢性久病的患者。

1. Children and Women, for eg poor digestion of children, amenorrhea(an abnormal absence of menstruation), painful menses, fibroid tumor of the uterus, infertile etc

2. Common cold, flu and various pain syndrome. for eg: Cold nature typed asthma wheezing, Hernia; insufficient Qi and blood that leads to anemia and dizziness.

3. Stomach and Spleen disorders, Liver and Kidney weakness which are commonly seen in elderly. 4. Moxibustion therapy is also used to dispel blood stagnation and dissipates lumps, reduces swelling and stop pain. It treats Early stage of acute mastitis, cervical lymphadenopathy, cancer etc.

5. Weak body constitution who are often prone to getting sick. It is known that the Moxibustion has the efficacy similar to a Ginseng, where the warming effect is moderate and will not harm human body, and it is suitable for those with weak immune system that has prone to illness, and various chronic disorders.
